Background History:
Van had a troubled childhood. His mother was the only one who could take care of him because his father was forced to join The Night's Watch. Van never learned the reason why his father was sent away because his mother refused to tell him. He lived with his mother in a small home up until the age of thirteen, it was then when she became ill and eventually passed away. The loss of his mother made him realize that life was short and that he shouldn't take it for granted. The loss of his mother transformed him into a better person; he started to help others when they needed it. Not only did it turn him into a better person, it ignited his desire to find out who his father was and if he was still alive. As the years went by, he met more people within Winterfell and started to learn about the different trades. He took an interest in blacksmithing, the arts behind it and then decided that he wanted to become a skilled blacksmith one day.
